A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
In the fall of 2011, seven electric vehicle-charging stations were installed at Grand Valley State University campus, bringing the total of electric vehicle charging stalls at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Pew, and Muskegon campuses) to 13. After being rewarded a federal grant from the Department of Energy, Grand Valley State University supplied the installation costs for the stations. Intended for the general public, the electric vehicle-charging stations will be a large asset as more electric vehicles are being produced by the automotive industries now and in the years to come. Energy is currently being supplied free of charge to promote the process.
