A brief description of the farmers’ market:
In line with the University’s commitment to health and wellness and sustainability, the GVSU Farmer’s Market is offered weekly through the months of June, July, August, and September. The mission of the market is to provide local independent farmers and growers with the opportunity to sell their perishable products in a fair market atmosphere. It is GVSU’s goal to support local farmers and growers in the hope of helping to sustain the farming community. In addition to this goal, GVSU will encourage its faculty and staff, as well as the surrounding community, to make healthy lifestyle choices by buying fresh and local. Each week the market provides a variety of produce from approximately 12 local growers. Music is offered at each market to create a festive atmosphere. Customers can also enjoy an inexpensive, healthy lunch provided by GVSU Campus Dining, as well as have their blood pressure checked on a weekly basis by nursing program students and faculty.
