Goucher has an active summer student/faculty research program. Research is sponsored by grants from endowed funds as well as external grants.

Internal competitive grants are available for faculty. The college has recently received grants from the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the Martha Cargill Foundation to support, among other projects, faculty research in sustainability. Professors Cynthia Kicklighter, Birthe Kjellerup, German Mora, Gina Shamshak, and postdoctoral fellows along with their undergraduate students have presented the outcomes of their research at regional and national conferences and in refereed journals.

The library has access to many databases so that faculty members can use sustainability journals. The permanent collection also contains many items related to sustainability.
