A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
List of faculty was taken directly from the Goshen College "Faculty Profiles" web page. Ongoing research or research projects conducted within the past three years were then taken from the "Research" or "Current Projects" sections of each faculty profile. Each research project or publication was then evaluated based on the definition of "sustainability research" as defined in the credit info provided for AC-9. Department list was taken from the Goshen College website as well and then cross-checked against the credit info.

In 7 of the 20 departments at the college, no research was reported, resulting in the denominator of 13 above in Part 2.
