A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The Maple Scholars/Hickory Scholars program is an 8-week summer internship for students to conduct research in partnership with a faculty mentor. The faculty members receive stipends on top of their regular salary. Although the program is not limited to sustainability research, several projects each year are sustainability-related.

A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:
Summer of 2019 an English professor and environmental science professor collaborated with two students to develop a course on creative writing in the context of spending time in nature. The intent is to have a course ready for students by May term 2020.
