A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
All contractors are encouraged to sort and recycle construction waste on all projects. This includes requiring all carpet distributors and/or manufactures of carpet installed at Gonzaga to have a carpet recycling plan approved by Purchasing. When building the PACCAR Center, 90.2% of on-site generated construction waste was diverted from landfills, and more than a third of the total building materials content by value have been manufactured using recycled materials. Additionally, when building the Hemmingson Center, 90% of on-site generated construction waste was also diverted from landfills.
