A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
New Student Orientation provides an opportunity for incoming students to experience our commitment to sustainability. At check-in, all students receive a water bottle to use throughout the weekend. The connection to the use of the water bottle and our sustainability efforts is made during Opening Ceremonies when the Gonzaga Student Body Association President explains the water bottle represents our commitment to sustainability as a plastic bottle free campus and calls all new students to action by using the bottle throughout the weekend. Other sustainability features, such as the Spokane Transit UTAP bus pass program, and ZagDining composting and local food practices, are discussed throughout orientation, and are pervasive in that sustainability is part of what we seek to practice at Gonzaga.
