A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:

The assessment is designed to measure Sustainability Literacy and Culture across the entire student population. A representative random sampling method is employed based on residence halls, which ensures representation across class year, gender and major. Surveys are handed out in person by student workers and filled out immediately on hard copy to ensure high response rates (which have typically been 21% of the entire student population, or 540 surveys for a total population of approxmiately 2500).

A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:

In the most recent survey conducted, over half (55%) of students surveyed were literate about Gettysburg College's sustainability culture practices based on a majority of correct survey responses to campus sustainability knowledge, value and behavior questions.
