The Environmental Studies major is interdisciplinary with courses that draw from the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Students choose either a Bachelors of Arts degree (BA) or a Bachelors of Science degree (BS), and pursue an in-depth area of concentration.

Dual Degree Program in Environmental Engineering

A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (2nd program):

A 3-2 program in which Gettysburg students complete a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies at Gettysburg College and a B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering at Columbia University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Washington University in St. Louis, or the University of Pittsburgh.

The Department of Environmental Studies offers eleven different Areas of Concentration with the Environmental Studies Major, including Earth System Science, Environmental Justice, Energy and the Environment, Environmental Humanities, Environmental Policy and Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Writing and Communication, GIS and Spatial Analysis, Landscape Ecology and Land Use, Marine and Freshwater Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Wildlife and Conservation Biology

Public Policy - Environmental Policy Concentration

Within the Public Policy Major at Gettysburg College, students may choose to pursue a Concentration in Environmental Policy based on course selections offered through the Departments of Political Science, Environmental Studies, Economics, History and a variety of additional affiliated Interdisciplinary Departments and Programs.
