The Integrative Thinking Goal in the Gettysburg College General Curriculum is sustainability-supportive insofar as it includes required course work designed to incorporate diverse methodologies, perspectives, analysis and communication across disciplines including the natural and social sciences. All Environmental Studies courses fulfill this requirement either in the form of Interdisciplinary courses or Science-Technology-Society courses, both of which are required of all students to complete this aspect of the college's general curriculum.

Graduates from degree programs that require an understanding of the concept of sustainability are those graduating with degrees in Environmental Studies, Biology, or degrees in Public Policy focused on Environmental Policy. The number of students graduating from these programs in AY 2020-21 were compared with the total number of students graduating that same year to determine the percentage of students who graduated in a program requiring an understanding of the concept of sustainability (listed below). For students with double majors, if one major required an understanding of sustainability, they were counted as students from a sustainability program.
