A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

Professor Randy Wilson of the Environmental Studies Department examined the full set of course offerings based on spread sheet data provided by the Gettysburg College Registrar's Office for AY 2020-21 (Fall 2020 and Spring 2021). All courses offered were tallied (less those from the Music Conservatory) and courses containing sustainability components were identified. Course descriptions for each sustainability course were pulled from departmental websites or college catalog descriptions. In some instances, direct communication with instructors of record were undertaken for topics Courses that did not have online descriptions available.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:

Since the tally was for an entire academic year (or two semesters), courses were counted twice if they were offered each semester. The revised Course Offering is attached and noted if taught each semester.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

There is not single webpage that summarizes all of the courses that are defined as sustainability focused or sustainability inclusive. The two choices for finding this information include investigating each department/program webpage under the courses link or using the College Catalog. A sampling of courses is also included on the Environmental Studies Departmental website insofar as the ES Department accepts such courses as potential electives in the ES major, HOWEVER, the list is constantly changing and not up to date as of this writing. Nonetheless, as this is the only URL offering a composite sampling of Sustainability focused and inclusive courses at the college, it is listed above as partial evidence. For more precise and complete additional documentation, we are also providing the full course lists for AY 2020-21 as a PDF document.
