Does the institution have a program to encourage student sustainability research that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage student research in sustainability:

Students are encouraged to engage in independent and collaborative research and creative activity in all disciplines. Support for funding for both students and faculty mentors is available through the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which provides opportunities for summer research, senior projects, and presenting at academic conferences. Although there is no specific incentive for sustainability research, many students have used Mellon Funding to study many different facets of sustainability, from land-use planning and collaboration in the intermountain West to the college's own institutional commitment to sustainability (resulting in the initiation of Gettysburg's participation in the STARS inventory). The Mellon funds are frequently used to support and promote innovative interdisciplinary scholarship.

Does the institution provide ongoing library support for sustainability research and learning that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the institution's library support for sustainability research and learning:

The library's liaison to the environmental studies department on campus meets with classes to create a research guide tailored to their studies about sustainability. The liaison sits down with ES professors creating new courses to help choose textbooks for their sustainability course. Each year for Earth Day, the library works with the environmental club on campus to create an exhibit of all wasted paper to demonstrate how much is wasted to promote awareness. This club also turns old, extra large library t-shirts into tote bags.
