The Environmental Engineering program provides comprehensive educational and research opportunities in air, land and water science and engineering. The principal focus areas include environmental biotechnology; water quality and treatment; wastewater reclamation and reuse; environmental hazards and risk assessment; ground water modeling and treatment; air quality monitoring; pollution control and modeling; environmental sciences; and industrial ecology and sustainability. Environmental engineering is also a key component in Institute-wide initiatives in bioengineering, bioscience and biotechnology, nanotechnology, materials science and technology, sustainable technology and development, environmental science and technology, and energy-water-food systems.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
The program takes an innovative and integrative approach to sustainability that prioritizes the management of Earth’s systems and resources through an understanding of best practices. The Master of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Management (MSEEM) curriculum is a multidisciplinary program with courses taught in schools across Georgia Tech including Public Policy, Business, City and Regional Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Economics, among others. MSEEM can be completed either full time (4-4-2 courses in a single year) or part time (2-2-1 courses each year for 2 years).

A brief description of the graduate degree program (3rd program):
The Master of Science in Urban Design (MSUD) degree is oriented to those who wish to expand upon their previous professional education and professional experience, as architects, landscape architects, city planners, or civil engineers, and to enter urban design practices either in private firms or public agencies, or to pursue a Ph.D. The curriculum is focused on urban design studios, often in direct collaboration with local communities, addressing contemporary challenges including climate change, equity, and retrofitting obsolescent infrastructure. Practicum Internships with leading urban design firms across the US over spring break help students build professional networks. Fall and spring required courses in urban design, history and theory, real estate, and urban ecology provide a rich interdisciplinary experience augmented with elective opportunities in architecture, planning, engineering, computation, public policy, heritage preservation, and other areas.

The graduate certificate in Global Development is offered by the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, School of City and Regional Planning, and School of Economics. The certificate will provide graduate level training in principles and methods of global development through multidisciplinary courses. Courses will cover a wide variety of topics on the theory, methods, and application of global development. The goal of the 12-credit hour certificate is to increase marketability for students seeking employment opportunities in organizations dedicated to addressing economic development, urban and regional planning, environmental problems and international affairs.
