Has the institution engaged in a structured assessment process during the previous three years to improve diversity, equity and inclusion on campus?:
Yes
A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:
Throughout the year, Institute Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (IDEI) collects data to assess the current status of various diversity, equity and inclusion metrics, programs and processes. Student grade and enrollment data is collected every semester and analyzed by the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion directors and assistant directors to inform program development and facilitation. Demographic and hiring data for faculty and staff are also collected throughout the year. This information is used to inform various units (administrative and academic), programs and initiatives.
Over the last several years, Georgia Tech has participated in the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award application process. Georgia Tech last summited a HEED Award application in 2019. Applications are comprehensive, covering all aspects of campus diversity and inclusion. One of the goals of the application process is to help institutions of higher education assess their diversity efforts in order to build on their success and improve where necessary.
The HEED application also addresses campus climate. In 2017, Faculty and Staff Climate were invited to participate in the Georgia Tech Climate Assessment Survey. In 2018, all undergraduate and graduate students at Georgia Tech were invited to participate in a Climate Assessment Survey.
The Institute-wide Climate Assessment was a complete and structured assessment process. Committees were created to structure each set of questions (grounded approach) and the results were documented over time (through the two administrations of the surveys). The HEED Award application is a tool our office uses to gauge our growth and success in diversity related topics, as well as outcomes. This data has been collected for the last 6 years.

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
The IDEI survey mentioned above gauged attitudes, perspectives and experiences, as it relates to culture and climate on campus by employees. It does not address HR-related issues specific to employee policy. The cultural assessment, however, does help define programs and initiatives that IDEI sponsors and develops.
Reports have been written and disseminated. Presentations have also been facilitated at every level, from the President's Cabinet, to the individual schools and departments. Additionally, programs were created after the first administration of the survey (I.e., leading women@Tech program, Inclusive Leaders Academy, etc...) We have also begun to develop programs that address new issues which arose from the second administration of the survey.
