A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Georgia Tech’s Parking and Transportation Services distributes an electronic survey to undergraduate and graduate students annually. The student responses from the 2019 survey were analyzed to determine the recent average commuting behavior for the student body. The survey is sent to a randomly selected set of students. There were 789 student responses representing approximately 2.2% of the student body. The survey collects data from each respondent for the commuting mode they use each day, the distance they are commuting, and their awareness and usage of alternative transit programs provided by the institution.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
Georgia Tech’s Parking and Transportation Services distributes an electronic survey to employees (faculty and staff) annually. The employee responses from the 2019 survey were analyzed to determine the recent average commuting behavior for the employee group. The survey is sent to a randomly selected set of employees. There were 1,114 employee responses representing approximately 12.5% of employees. The survey collects data from each respondent for the commuting mode they use each day, the distance they are commuting, and their awareness and usage of alternative transit programs provided by the institution.
