A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:

Georgia Tech's green cleaning program is certified under the Green Seal standards.
Georgia Tech's indoor pest management service covers about 8M square feet of building space and operates with IPM standards. Under our contract with Gregory Pest Control, Gregory provides the G Smart™ program, Gregory’s innovative Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. https://smarterpestcontrol.com/about-us/our-approach/

Georgia Tech Building Services first implemented green cleaning in 2003 by removing toxic chemical cleaners and replacing them with more environmentally-friendly products. More than over 20 traditional cleaning chemicals were removed and were replaced by Green Seal certified products. Since that time, the Building Services Department has gone on to remove traditional cleaning products from the cleaning inventory and replaced with chemical-free cleaning processes which developed into a cost-savings of over $492,090 during an eight-year period by using ionized water through an Ionator to currently using GenEon products.

Our Georgia Tech green cleaning program reduces chemical exposures and supports positive outcomes by protecting student’s and other building occupants’ health, thereby putting our students in a better position to learn. Protecting the health of custodial staff who work closely with the cleaning supplies and the environment by reducing potentially hazardous chemicals from being released is another positive result.

The program implemented by Building Services is also Green Seal certified since 2016.
