Does the institution use weather data or weather sensors to automatically adjust irrigation practices?:
A brief description of how weather data or sensors are used:
Housing piloted smart irrigation on campus. It worked so well that it is now practiced campus wide. We have developed an Irrigation Master Plan which ties together the Cistern Master Plan, performance landscaping, smart irrigation, and Landscape Master Plan.
GT Landscape Services use smart controllers as described in page 293, section 2.01 of the Board of Regents office of Facilities Design and Construction Architecture and Engineering Design Standards for Building Technology (GT – Yellow Book).
The weather sensors adjust the water usage on every zone by using daily ET Rate and Measured Rain fall to subtract from the ET Rate to only apply the water need for the next irrigation cycle.
