A brief description of the snow and ice removal program, policy, or practice:
The campus has ordered removal snow plow blades. We also begin our efforts to reduce the negative impacts of snow and ice early, before they can accumulate and therefore become a bigger problem than necessary.
The Office of Emergency Preparedness will closely monitor weather conditions and assist Facilities Operations and Maintenance in being aware of the potential for a winter storm. Upon being advised of the potential for a winter storm, it is Facilities Operations and Maintenance responsibility to make sure the necessary people, equipment, and material are in place on Campus and ready to commence with ice and/or snow removal at the appropriate time. Priorities are provided as indicated on the emergency campus map. We are using Ice-melt that is DFE certified, NSF C 1 Registered meeting USDA 1998 Guidelines. Readily Biodegradable per OED or ASTM standards EPA Design for environment recognized. Also, we use sand and have a fleet of 4 snow ploughs and 5 salt and sand salt spreaders.
