A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):
I have been working with people that have concerns about the air quality in their working area in a number of ways. Typically I send everyone in the building an air quality written survey from the EPA. I use this to determine if there is a potential problem. I also conduct a visual inspection of the entire building. I look in all areas that could pose a potential problem. If the building in is need of cleaning, I have the custodial dept. clean all surfaces in the area of concern, in hopes that the problem can be solved with just a cleaning. If I see or smell anything that could potentially be a problem, I have conducted noninvasive air sampling. If we find that there is a problem we are approaching the subject of doing more invasive testing. At this point and time I have not done the invasive testing. It would be good to be able to conduct some more in depth air sampling but at this time we do not have the appropriate equipment or funding to do so.
