Does the institution advocate for national, state/provincial, or local public policies that support campus sustainability or that otherwise advance sustainability?:
Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

Mainly through the President's Office, our institution is active in creating sustainable policies locally and state-wide. The Director of Economic Development and External Relations, Johnny Grant, is a former State Senator. He and the President lobby widely for progressive actions. One important example is the effort to build new bike trails to help students and the community access campus and underserved regions of our city. This effort has been led by the Live Healthy Baldwin project in the College of Health Science.

The Live Healthy Baldwin project is a community wide initiative that centers on providing ways to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic among at-risk children by increasing the opportunities available for healthy food choices and physical activity. Campus representatives served on City and County committees to change local transportation policies and promote a Bike-Friendly Community and Campus. The League of American Bicyclists, working with campus and city officials, designated both our campus and city as bike-friendly.
