Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
100

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

The My Voice at GW survey was developed to help communicate employees needs and current level of engagement. The survey takes approximately five to ten minutes to complete. Each staff and faculty member received a unique link from Gallup inviting them to participate in the survey. Gallup directly administers the survey. All answers are confidential -- individual results are not shared with GW, so employees can feel comfortable providing candid answers.

Employee engagement is the involvement and enthusiasm of employees in both their work and institution. It is driven by individuals finding purpose and meaning in their work and being recognized for their unique contributions -- basic psychological needs that must be met in order for people to perform their work well. The survey measures the extent to which these needs are met.

All regular full- and part-time GW faculty and staff were invited to complete the survey. Survey invitations were sent on February 21, 2023 and the survey closed on March 14, 2023.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

The survey will serve to measure engagement as baseline for the university. Engagement is important to each faculty or staff member who contributes to GW's mission, so understanding where we as an organization can effect change in a meaningful way will help faculty and staff feel more empowered and engaged in their work, which will help support our students, researchers, faculty, staff, and other members of our university community.

The results from the survey will inform action planning at a school and unit level. This allows voices to be heard in order to bring about positive change based on your feedback.

GW school and unit leaders will receive aggregate survey results for their school or unit. Individual results are confidential and not shared. Schools and units will receive support for action planning to address concerns specific to their results. Each school or unit will own their action planning and can integrate this action planning into future goals to address those plans.
