A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:
Established by a gift from the class of 2007, the Green Campus Fund is a part of the endowment. It supports initiatives designed to conserve energy and promote a more environmentally-friendly campus. Funds are used to fund projects are designed by students through competitions including the GW Charged Up competition, GW Eco-Equity Challenge and the DC Climathon at GW, with mentorship and support from the Office of Sustainability and other partners across the university including Finance, Facilities, Planning, and Construction Management, and others.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
Awards for student-led projects that are supported by the Green Campus Fund are determined by a panel of students who serve on GW's Public Service Grant Commission (in the case of Eco-Equity Challenge projects), and by a panel of Judges from the DC community including the Department of Energy and Environment, local entrepreneurs, and subject matter experts in industry and academia (in the case of DC Climathon projects).
