Mason does not have an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in place, rather has written programs and procedures to ensure that programs are developed, applied, and maintained in accordance with OSHA Virginia Occupational Safety and Health regulations. Written topics include: Art Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Fire Safety, Hazard Communication, Laboratory Safety, Lock-out/Tag-out, Medical Surveillance, Respiratory Protection, Workplace Safety Guides, Routine Workplace Safety Inspections, Employee Training, Institutional Polices, Accident and Incident Recording and Investigations, and document management process that ensures plans, policies, and procedures are reviewed and updated on a routine basis.

The Environmental Health and Safety Office and Human Resources-Workers Compensation track workplace injuries and illnesses. Recordable injuries and illnesses are recorded in a health and safety database to complete OSHA 300 logs, identify trends, and record corrective actions to mitigate future injuries and illnesses.
