A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
Bike check out program at the Fairfax Campus and regional bikeshare at the Mason Square (Arlington) campus. Students all have access to a $25/year membership in Capital Bikeshare. Collaborating with Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax to bring Capital Bikeshare to the Fairfax Campus hopefully by the end of 2023.

Mason has Zipcars available in the Rappahannock Parking Deck on the Fairfax campus. Mason students, faculty/staff can join Zipcar for $25/ year.

There are electric vehicle charging stations in the visitor section of the parking decks, and the Global Center, on the B2 level of the Van Metre Garage at the Mason Square Campus. EV charging stations at the SciTech campus are in development.

Housing is available with a Preferred Employer Program (apartments and temporary housing); Mason also offers Masonvale, rental housing units available at below-market rates.

A brief description of other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting:
Mason offers an array of programs to encourage more sustainabile modes of transportation including informal and formal carpool programs, employee vanpool, mass transit including financial support of the City of Fairfax CUE bus so students, faculty, and staff can use it at no cost, Mason Shuttles with connections to metro, area shopping centers (for residential students who don't bring a car to campus and for local students, faculty, and staff who live near these stops) and transportation between Mason's Fairfax, SciTech, and Mason Square campuses. Further, Mason covers the cost of eligible mass transit commutes by full-time employees up to the IRS monthly limit of $300 based upon actual commute costs.
Mason also supports all faculty/staff who bike to work with a financial incentive depending upon the frequency of the rides and the distance.
Mason also participates in the regions' Guaranteed Ride Home Program for faculty and staff. Upon registration, employees who regularly (twice per week) car/vanpool, bike, walk, or take transit to work can use the GRH program up to 6 times per year at no cost.
