A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Greenhouse & Gardens Program offers volunteer opportunities for faculty and staff to gain hands-on training in sustainable food production, restorative landscaping and composting. Facilities Administration funds the program with an annual budget around $15,000 for supplies and around $120,000 for staffing costs.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The program mainly hosts students and interns, but its volunteer shifts are also available to faculty and staff. Some of the employees do it for fun, while others are using their volunteer leave, and some are with a group for an event, such as University Life's day of service. Staff in the program teach other staff to help maintain the greenhouse and garden sites, teaching skills like plant ID, indoor and outdoor composting, seed sowing, harvesting and more.
