The Mason Archival Repository Service (MARS) offers archiving and sharing options that include persistent URLs, DOIs, searchable metadata, full-text indexing, and long-term preservation. The repository services offered are a free, secure place to archive and share research output.

George Mason Institutional Dataverse, hosted by the Odum Institute, is used for archiving numeric and geospatial data files.

George Mason University, through the University Libraries, will provide financial support to Mason scholars and researchers who wish to publish their work in open access (OA) journals. Faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and registered graduate students are eligible to apply to Mason’s Open Access Publishing Fund (OAPF) for assistance with article processing fees required by some OA journals. There is a structured application process as well as specified guidelines.

Mason offers advice and support for departments, centers, and units at GMU interested in producing online, open-access journals. The University currently use Open Journal Systems (OJS) as its primary publishing platform. Mason also consults on additional journal platforms and hopes to expand its offerings in the future.
