By 2020, George Mason University aims to have a 50% reduction in energy intensity metrics from its 2006 baseline and a 20% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions. By 2050, George Mason will achieve an 80% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions from its 2006 baseline.


A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:

By 2012, George Mason Univerity will reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions to its 2006 levels. By 2014, the University will maintain its net greenhouse gas emissions at 2006 levels and decrease energy intensity metrics by 10% from 2006 baseline, or about 2% per year starting in 2010.
