Clarification regarding the 9 meter rule in response to AASHE feedback: George Brown College is a 100% smoke-free environment. People who wish to smoke can do so on city-owned property that is adjacent to George Brown College-owned property, but not George Brown-owend property. If a piece of property is city-owned, such as a sidewalk, but is within 9 meters of a college entrance, then we maintain a no-smoking rule on that piece of property regardless of ownership. The 9 meter rule is not an allowance of smoking of college property, in fact it is an extension of our Smoke-Free policy.
