A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage student research in sustainability:
Students are hired as “Student Researchers” or “Student Leaders”, and they are paid as support staff for participating in research projects. We also have faculty and staff who act as “Principal Investigators”, who provide guidance and direction to the students during the project, as well as supervise their work and ensure quality deliverables. Sustainability course content is fully integrated with GBC’s real world industry-led research projects that are driving toward quick commercialization of products, techniques and processes. Students are now able to highlight their sustainability and innovation skills with digital badges that can be posted on their e-portfolios, on social and professional communications media and on their on their resumes. In addition, specific applied research initiatives related to sustainability can be provided upon request.
