The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities was constructed in 2008 with two 10,000 gallon cisterns to harvest rainwater for landscape irrigation. The cisterns overflow into the lake. Since that time, irrigation from the cisterns was discontinued in favor of an expanded lake-water irrigation system.
