Green Office Program

The Green Office program is part of an ongoing effort by the Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities to work closely with university departments to help them model and adopt sustainable behaviors, save departments and the university money, support our ongoing campus-wide sustainability efforts, and provide a chance for departments to showcase their green practices and garner recognition for their sustainability efforts.

Restorative practice workshops The Shared Equity Leadership Team offers on campus Restorative Practice (RP) workshops for faculty and staff. These workshops focus on the science of relationship building in an organizational context to foster a strong community.

The Green Office program also offers individual consultations/trainings upon request for any office on campus, at any time. Through the green office program, any team can request help with a sustainability challenge such as composting, sourcing a local product, or waste management. Each team has unique constraints, opportunities, and resources, so individual problem-solving is useful in crafting custom solutions, identifying systemic barriers, and supporting a culture of sustainability on our campus.

Over the last 2 years, the Green Office program participants included 536 unique employees from 50 offices, representing 57% of the employee population.
