Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

Furman representatives regularly participate in public hearings, information sessions, and comment opportunities in support of Greenlink, Greenville's public bus system. Greenlink maintains a bus stop on Furman's campus and several Furman employees utilize the service.

Additionally, a team of Furman Faculty and students joined with the community partner, United Way, to conduct a Focused Needs and Assets Assessment for the local community. The assessment categories were: natural capital, human capital, manufactured capital, social capital, and financial stability. Results were shared with local municipal leaders.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

Faculty members from the Earth and Environmental Science and Biology Departments work with the Union of Concerned Scientists to advocate for policies that will help disadvantaged communities determine water quality issues associated with flooding that can contaminate wells.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

Furman President, Elizabeth Davis, supported sustainability efforts by signing letters supporting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Additionally, Furman faculty members Melinda Menzer and Akan Malici organized a rally on campus in support of DACA.
