A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
There are three separate committees on campus focused on diversity and equity at Fullerton College.
First, the Student Equity and Achievement Committee (SEAC) is the newest in the shared governance system, only being roughly 3 years old. SEAC is a dual-reporting committee, being under both the President's Advisory Council and the Faculty Senate. It oversees advising the President on diversity, equity, and other DIEA matters, along with overseeing the college's DIEA budget.
Second, the Diversity Committee, overlaps somewhat with SEAC, but mainly works on initiatives to elevate the campus climate around diversity like surveys and student art projects.
Finally, the Staff Development Committee serves to conduct staff trainings in general, but includes DIEA trainings in their offerings.

If trainings are made available, provide:
No student trainings have been recorded at this time.
The largest training day for full-time academic staff is via Fullerton College's Flex Day training. Faculty have an obligation to participate in 5 hours of training before each semester, which includes a keynote speaker and breakout sessions. The standard at these for the last several years has been on equity. These trainings do not mandate adjunct faculty to attend, however they are welcome, and incentivized to attends via stipends. Information on Flex Days can be found at https://staffdev.fullcoll.edu/flex-days/.
For non-academic staff, there is no mandated trainings or activities reflecting cultural competence, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or social inclusion other than the California state-mandated onboarding trainings. There have been trainings in the last three years covering topics such as Implicit Bias, Student Equity Outcomes, Stereotype Threat, and more, but all have been optional trainings offered by the staff development office. One such program from before the pandemic (March 2019) has been linked below in the optional field.
