Frostburg State University’s sustainability efforts are spearheaded by Learning Green, Living Green (LGLG), its campus wide task force; the official website for LGLG is http://www.frostburg.edu/lglg/. LGLG uses the website as a way of keeping the campus informed and connected to our sustainability initiatives, including relevant info such as links to our climate Action Plan, our Energy-Efficient Purchasing Policy, and our latest press releases highlighting our events and activities relating to our sustainability efforts. We also outline our mission and vision on this website. In addition to our website, we also try to maintain an active community of sharing ideas and initiatives about sustainability through our LGLG Facebook Page (https.//www.facebook.com/frostburglglg)

We like to think of our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/frostburglglg) as a sustainability newsletter, where we share photos, announcements, links to relevant conferences and articles about sustainability and other resources. Additionally, we occasionally submit news items to the Office of News and Media Services, who crafts press releases about our sustainability efforts that are in turn sent to a variety of local and regional news sources.

Every year, during Earth Week, FSU holds a Sustainability teach-In called "Focus Frostburg." This is an opportunity for students, faculty and community to share research, projects, videos, and information that highlights sustainability and the environment. FSU publishes a brochure that offers a synopsis of each session and the schedule for the day.

FSU lists information about campus-wide recycling on our LGLG web page. There are four recycling bins on each floor of every building on campus. FSU currently recycles mixed paper, newsprint, magazines, textbooks, cardboard, plastic #1, plastic #2, aluminum, metal, plastic bags, toner cartridges, and fluorescent light bulbs.

"#sustain" magazine is a student-run publication created by students in English 402 and advised by faculty member, Dr. Jill Anne Morris. "#sustain" is published annually and is dedicated to educating the student body on all things sustainable–the staff writers cover everything from the trashwheel in Baltimore's Inner Harbor to relationships and health.
"#sustain" is funded by the FSU Student Sustainability Fee.

Frostburg SGA’s $15 Bet on Green Returns a More Sustainable Future

Students seldom vote to create new mandatory fees for themselves, but when the purpose is clear and personally important, they do so gladly.
Thanks to the forethought of Frostburg State University Student Government Association leaders, 12 new student-focused sustainability projects have received grant funding from the FSU President’s Advisory Council for Sustainability (PACS). The funds were raised through FSU’s Student Sustainability Fee, a $15-per-semester mandatory fee instituted by SGA in May of 2014.
