A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the course inventory:
The data is based on courses that have been reviewed for sustainability content and included in the approved curriculum for the minor in Sustainability Studies and other academic programs presented as sustainability related degree programs. This includes required core courses, foundation courses, and elective courses. However, purely technical supporting courses were excluded (such as technical writing or statistics). In addition, special topics and internship courses that might or might not have a sustainability element are excluded.
For the purposes of counting courses, all listed courses with a SUST (Sustainability Studies) code were listed as sustainability courses. Other courses in the various programs were listed as sustainability related, along with some additional courses not yet incorporated in the sustainability related curriculums in the 2015-2017 catalog. For the purposes of departments participating, course identifiers were the primarily means used. However, courses from two minor programs are included although the do not have "department" status on our campus at present.
