The E:Sustainability concentration is a natural step aligning with Olin’s mission to do good in the world. Importantly, the concentration also embraces a more modern understanding of sustainability, which means more than just keeping plastics out of the ocean and reducing carbon emissions; at sustainability’s core are equity and justice.

Second Point of Distinction
Pre- and Post-Consumer Composting
A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
Olin hires Cero Cooperative for pre- and post-consumer food composting. The dining hall staff can compost pre-consumer waste in small bins, and consumers can dispose of their food waste in large bins near the dishwashing station. There are also small compost bins in the dorm kitchens for students' pre- and post-consumer compost, which are managed by the Eco-Reps.

Third Point of Distinction
Partnership with Greentown Labs
A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
After creating a Memo of Understanding (MOU), Olin College of Engineering and Greentown Labs officially entered into a partnership in fall 2021. The MOU increases networking and collaboration between the two entities, gives Greentown Labs preferential recruitment privileges at Olin career fairs, and allows Oliners to visit and tour Greentown’s Somerville campus at a discounted rate.
