A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:

Established as their senior class gift, the members of the Class of 2007 presented this endowment to fund green initiatives at Olin. The annual payout made available for distribution from the Green Initiatives Fund is determined by the College’s spending policy for endowment funds, which is currently to make 5% of a 12-quarter trailing average of the endowment fund value available from the endowment earnings.

A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:

Proposed projects are reviewed by a committee of student, staff, and faculty representatives to ensure the project meets the following criteria:
- The green initiatives project must have a tangible, measurable outcome that promotes sustainability and environmental awareness.
- The project must benefit Olin College in some way, but does not need to be limited to improving the college campus. Initiatives that improve the College’s relationship with the greater community are also encouraged.
- Results of the project must be reported to the Olin community and made available in a publicly accessible form.
