6.1 Sustainability-focused community partnerships

Pro-Natura Partnership:
Pro-Natura is a Swiss-based conservation NGO that works to restore and preserve important ecological habitats in Switzerland. Pro-Natura Ticino has patterned with FUS on multiple occasions, including last year on an "eco-walk" during our Earth Day Summit. Most recently, on November 16th, Pro-Natura and Franklin students worked together to help restore the local "Lago di Muzzano" ecosystem by pulling out invasive species found around the lake.
Guest Speaker: Gastone Boisco (Urban Architect and Sorengo Green Office Liasion)
On November 18th, Gastone came to Franklin to speak to students about his efforts in transforming Sorengo into a sustainable community, specifically in the context of sustainable architecture and urban planning.
Lugano Sustainability Series
The Green Office works with 2 other universities and the City of Lugano to provide free talks to educate the public on critical sustainability topics.

Franklin works with Boky Mamiko, a Swiss/Italian NGO dedicated to quality education in Madagascar. Co-founded by Franklin Professor Rossana Galli, Boky Mamiko supports education, employment creation, environmental protection, and health and nutrition in the rural Northwestern Diana Region of the country. Created by a group of researchers and students of the University of Zurich, the association also promotes development-oriented academic research in Madagascar.
