- Green Day: Paided and unpaid volunteer opportunity
The Franklin Community has the chance to volunteer at Bellenzona's Green Day event. Volunteers can assist at the Green Office booth or serve as Green Day Volunteers, which involves setting up and taking down booths for the event and cleaning up the site afterward.

- Franklin Francs is a program that encourages students to engage in volunteer and civic engagement by letting students earn "Franklin Francs" for participating in volunteer events and tasks. The Franklin Francs are a form of currency that can then be used to earn extra credit in participating courses.

Since the Green Office helped organize the civic engagement event at Green Day, we have a list of all the students who participated. From this list, we can estimate the percentage of students.

5.3 Support for public policies to advance sustainability

The Green Office works closely with the municipality in which the university is located (Sorengo). Within the municipality (city hall), their is a member who is designated as the Green Office - Sorengo Liason. This member is involved in developing local public policies related to building and permits and advocates for policies that address environmental sustainability issues, such as reducing heat islands and requiring green roofs on new construction.

The Green Office has advocated for enhanced safety for pedestrians along the road that bisects the university. Attached is the letter sent to the cantonal authorities. The safe movement of pedestrians and passengers is an important component of a sustainable multi-modal transportation system. The planning, design and management of safe walking around the university not only promotes sustainable travel behaviour, but helps create a safe liveable community.
