A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:
The 2012 Franklin academic year followed the theme of "footprints" with special regard to carbon footprints. One of the First Year Seminars, which are implemented to help first year students adjust to Franklin life, had a focus on global climate change. Each student was then required to calculate their own carbon footprint and related it back to the Franklin lifestyle which has a large focus on travel.
