Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes
Percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample (0-100):
80
A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
FIE recently developed an HR provision survey, which at present is the only formal method FIE implements to evaluate employee satisfaction and engagement. However, employee satisfaction is also assessed during appraisals at the end of each year, and engagement is evaluated by examining the staff development spreadsheet to see the complete list of training and development activities that each staff member has taken part for that year. Other informal measures of employee satisfaction and engagement include: assessing absenteeism; attendance at all staff-events (e.g. social events, team-building initiatives); and day-to-day direct feedback to HR personnel.
The Academic team on the other hand has recently instituted an end-of-semester faculty feedback survey to ascertain tutor feedback on teaching facilities and equipment, training initiatives and support provided by FIE staff.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
As the HR provision survey is a recently developed initiative, the mechanism for utilising its results is still under development. At present, FIE’s ‘HR & Operations Officer’ and ‘Senior Vice President – Operations’ plan to include a regular review of the results to inform HR objectives and initiatives of the company for the following year.
Regarding the faculty-feedback survey, all results are reviewed by the Academic Team and any action plans are recorded on the team’s Excel spreadsheet. This spreadsheet organises all team action plans resulting from this survey as well as the other various sources of feedback the organisation receives (i.e. from students, faculty, quality assurance and accreditation agencies). The Academic Team’s spreadsheet also indicates the staff member responsible for completing each recorded action, the deadline by which it should be completed and the results achieved once completed. The director of each department is responsible for regularly reviewing its team's progress on actions to ensure they are completed and recorded within the stated deadline.
