A brief description of the institution’s programs to guide and prepare students and families from low-income backgrounds for higher education:
In their pre-departure preparation students and families are encouraged to explore FIE's website where they can find a wealth of resources to help them prepare for their study-abroad experience. FIE staff also organise virtual pre-departure orientation, where they share with students budgeting, packing advise, as well as transport and amenities suggestions. In their pre-departure email communication, the Student Life Team also provides further advice on how to navigate the study-abroad experience on a budget.
Upon arrival students also gain access to the FIE's virtual learning environment which hosts a series of student-produced guides to living on a low income in London.
The Student Life Team also provides student with access to a wide-range of extra-curricular activities to enrich their experience. All events are advertised on FIE’s extra-curricular calendar and are offered at reduced, more affordable price. http://fie.org.uk/extracurricularactivities
FIE has also created a page for ‘affordable living in London’ on the FIE's website called ‘Free & Cheap London’ (http://fie.org.uk/free-cheap-london).
While abroad students have the opportunity to sign up for the FIE Student Interest Group for Limited Finance. Members of this group receive e-mails from an FIE staff member with useful information on how to manage their budget better and make the most of their study-abroad experience by way of maximising the financial resources they have (http://fie.org.uk/student-resources).

---
A brief description of the institution’s other policies and programs to support non-traditional students:
Due to the admissions process requirements, all students enrolled on an FIE program have to be enrolled in a full-time course and thus a part-time student’s policy is not applicable in FIE's circumstances.
While FIE does not have specific policies for part-time students and those who are parents, as per its equal opportunities policy and accessibility accommodation process, FIE strives to provide the necessary adjustments to its learning and housing environment to accommodate the specific needs of each student.
Comprehensive student resources have been developed for the following diverse groups of students:
- Speakers of English as a Second Language
- Communities of Colour
- LGBTQ & Allies
- Latino/a Students
- Religion & Spirituality
- Fraternity and Sorority Life
- Limited Finances
- Disability and Accessibility
- Non-traditional Students (24 and over)
- First Generation College Students
- Gender and Gender Identity
