A list or brief description of the course level sustainability learning outcomes and the programs for which the courses are required:
The vast majority of students on FIE's open enrolment quarter, semester and summer study abroad programs are required to take a mandatory British Life Key Course. There are four variations of the course: 'British Life and Cultures', 'British Life and Business', 'British Life and Europe', and 'British Life and Visual Media'. All four versions have a course level learning outcome related to sustainability which is: 'Understand the importance of sustainability for an island nation'. All four courses have a 'Sustainability in the UK' topic and a 'Sustainability Film Reflection and Research Paper' assessment worth 15% of the overall grade. For FIE's 2 courses where the primary or explicit focus is on sustainability, the learning outcomes are as follows: - Ecology, Environment, and Economics: Market Forces and Sustainability (an elective course) * Apply economic theory to measure environmental sustainability * Distinguish market forces and environmental integrity * Interpret ways in which economic decisions, market forces, and government policies affect environment * Generate a critical understanding as to how consumer markets and business initiatives can result in sustainable environment - Environmental Science: Our Role in Today's World (a closed course for a particular university partner) * Understand the role environmental science plays in society * Appraise existing solutions to environmental issues and concerns * Formulate personal solutions to mitigate environmental concerns Also see FIE's Charting the Course document for details of additional courses where sustainability is embedded.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Total number of graduates from degree programmes - As FIE is a study abroad programme, students only study with us for a quarter, semester or summer as part of their degree programme on their home campus. Therefore, we do not have any graduates from degree programmes in the traditional sense, so have instead included the number of students who studied on an FIE programme in 2016. To calculate the number of graduates that have adopted at least one sustainability learning outcome, we looked at the number of students in 2016 that completed one of FIE's British Life Key Courses, which all include a sustainability learning outcome and assessment. Institutional and programme level learning outcomes - As a study abroad programme, FIE does not have majors, minors, degrees, diplomas etc., so no programme level learning outcomes in this sense. What we refer to as our programme level learning outcomes, i.e. learning outcomes for our study abroad programmes, are in fact institutional level learning outcomes in this context.
