Our annual Sustainability Initiative Grant seeds projects across campus. Last year, the grant supported a sustainability-themed drag show called Drag Me to Mother Earth that was preceded by a series of sewing workshops on repurposing clothing. The drag show featured kings and queens wearing outfits made from entirely re-purposed, up-cycled, or items purchased from a thrift store. Drag performers donated all their tips to the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.

Creating opportunity in the whole food system
A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
Our annual Sustainability Initiative Grant seeds projects across campus. Last year, the grant funded an Indigenous foods workshops and a program that provided 200 free student veggie bags. A former FLC student, Brandon Francis, held workshops leading students in planting, caring for, and harvesting a four sisters garden (corn, beans, squash, and tobacco). The grant also helped provide 200 student veggie bags that were distributed in August, September and October at the Old Fort Farmstand on campus. These small, free bags of fresh vegetables helped us to reach out to students about our farmer training programs and ability to accept SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) benefits and distribute DUFB (double up food bucks).
