Environmental Studies
This major covers climate change, habitat loss, mass species extinction, natural capital degradation, environmental health, environmental justice, and building sustainable societies. Students study both science and the humanities with a focus on policy solutions and complete interdisciplinary coursework in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to gain insight into the physical and societal causes and effects of environmental problems, integrating these disciplines in economic, political, and societal policy solutions.
Environmental Science
The Environmental Science undergraduate major at Fordham University is crafted to offer students a comprehensive interdisciplinary education that combines fundamental scientific knowledge with a broad selection of specialized electives. This major deepens students' understanding of key areas such as conservation biology, environmental chemistry, urban ecology, and sustainable development, grounded in a strong base of life and chemical sciences. Sustainable Business Minor
This minor incorporates business, social science, natural science, and building-design curricula. It can enhance a student's career opportunities in traditional business markets and in the emerging "green sector." Students who pursue this minor take the foundations course, Sustainable Business, and six additional courses.

Urban Studies
Designed as an interdisciplinary program, the program offers a broad introduction to the city and the urban environment. Students combine coursework and research in a variety of disciplines with hands-on experience in New York City as well as other American and international cities.
Students will graduate ready to pursue a wide range of careers in government service, community development, nonprofit, journalism, teaching, social work, public policy, architecture, urban planning, law, and more.
African & African American Studies
African & African American studies draws on sociology, economics, and more to explore civil rights movements, forced and voluntary migrations, racial disparities in health care and criminal justice, African American identity in the arts, and more.
Asian American Studies
The Asian American studies minor is an interdisciplinary course of study that seeks to engage students in critical themes related to Asian and Asian Americans, including race, gender, sexuality, capital, and empire.
Humanitarian Studies
Our humanitarian studies majors examine the global impact of disasters, disease, poverty, conflict, local and international policies, and human rights violations—and study innovative ways to help populations in crisis.
Peace and Justice Studies
Our peace and justice studies program focuses on conflict resolution as well as economic and environmental justice, race and culture, war and terrorism, criminal justice reform, and more.
Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Our women, gender, and sexuality studies major takes an expansive view of gender and sexuality studies as both a lens to examine and a vehicle to create social change.
