A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
The Office of Employee and Labor Relations administers an employee exit survey which evaluates specific work factors, general work experience, and asks for additional suggestions and comments. Additionally, a variety of surveys are done at the departmental level to assess employee satisfaction.
It is the policy of Florida State University to provide University Support Personnel System (USPS) and Administrative and Professional (A&P) employees with an internal Complaint Procedure to provide a formal mechanism to bring complaints to the attention of management and to address those complaints. It is FSU policy that there shall be no reprisals against any of the participants for participation in this Complaint Procedure.
An employee who has a complaint or grievance is encouraged to discuss with his or her supervisor with the option of utilizing the University's Mediation Program administered by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) prior to the filing of a formal complaint or grievance.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential program that provides a professional support system for the faculty and staff of the university. EAP maintains an Organizational Development component to provide evaluation, brief intervention, and trainings/workshops for work related issues. EAP provides Mediation Services for employees and Supervisor Consultations for workplace issues.

FSU has a complaint procedure which aims to expedite resolution of mentioned incident. After the incident has occurred, the employee is to have a meeting with their direct supervisor who will evaluate the complaint. If deemed necessary, the supervisor will include management, Director or Department Head, followed by review from a Complaint Review Officer, with a final decision written by the University Vice President within 90 days of the original complaint.
