Since the creation of the Florida State University Office of Sustainability in 2010, there has been a significant increase in sustainability outreach and awareness programming across campus. Formal outreach programs have grown to include a year-round calendar of events as well as collaboration across campus units to identify sustainability best practices.
Notable accomplishments include:
2011 - AASHE STARS Silver rating
2012 - Recycle Mania "Spirit of Recycling" Video Contest Winner
2012 – Prudential/Florida Tax Watch Davis Productivity Award
2012 - American Graphic Design Award, Identity Design category (Sustainable Campus logo)
2013 - Florida Department of Environmental Protection Recycling Recognition Program

The Sustainability Advisory Board functions in an advisory capacity to the President and Provost to make recommendations on the development and implementation of sustainability policies and practices related to operations, education, research, and outreach; facilitate cooperation among campus groups; and recommend long-term goals for the University.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Foster environmental, social, and economic sustainability across Florida State University
-Develop a strategic plan for sustainability that ranges across all University activities
-Aid in the development of policy with appropriate departments
-Establish reporting and benchmarking methodologies to track and prioritize progress
-Identify strategies to implement and reach goals
-Utilize sustainability as an advantage for University financial and resource management, recruitment, and research
