Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
FIU Student Food Pantries
There are two food pantry locations to serve FIU students in need. All the food distributed comes from donations made by staff, faculty, members of the community, and student groups. Students do not need to provide proof of need to use the facility.
The student food pantries provide non-perishable food items including canned proteins, fruits, dairy, vegetables, and soups, along with grains, oils and condiments. Toiletry items are also available.
The pantry is available to all currently enrolled FIU students. Students can visit once a week, taking 8 pounds of food per visit.
