Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
Yes

A brief description of the incentive program(s):

At FIU, all undergraduate students are required to take at least two Global Learning courses, which are designed to foster global awareness, perspective, and engagement necessary to act as global citizens, creating innovative, equitable, and sustainable solutions for people and the planet. FIU offers 268 courses to fulfill this requirement, all focused on global, sustainable and responsible citizenship. FIU offers stipends for faculty who attend Global Learning training workshops as well as stipends for those who develop or revise Global Learning courses.

A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:

FIU’s Office of Global Learning hosts workshops for faculty and graduate teaching assistants to support the university’s Global Learning initiative. These workshops engage participants in active global learning strategies that can be easily implemented across curriculum. FIU faculty teaching Global Learning designated courses and developing or revising a course for Global Learning designation may receive stipends for attending workshops. Faculty and adjuncts are eligible to receive a $250 stipend for attending the entire workshop and submitting a completed Global Learning Course Assessment Matrix. Faculty may receive a one-time $500 stipend for attending the workshop and submitting a Global Learning course proposal to the Faculty Senate Global Learning Curriculum Oversight Committee (GLCOC). All workshop participants receive access to documents used in the Global Learning course and activity development process.
