A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
Two surveys were conducted - one that was open to all faculty and one that was open to all staff.
Faculty Survey: Launched in February 2023: The COACHE survey was administered to faculty (excluding administrative faculty in the role of Assistant Dean or above). The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education is a research-practice partnership based in the Harvard Graduate School of Education. COACHE studies the work lives of faculty with a focus on actionable data to support academic administrators. Studies are conducted in partnership with college and university leaders (both faculty and administrative) with an emphasis on using the data collected to improve the academic workplace. Fall 2023: Taskforce is prioritizing responses - Analyzing & Evaluating Data; Identifying Areas of Strength & Concern; Recommending Top Priorities of Focus
Staff Advisory Council Retention & Morale Survey was released Nov 2021. Qualitative and quantitative data collected through Checkbox. Quantitative data was captured using a Likert 1 5 scale. Survey findings analyzed Jan 2022. We organized the answers to the final question asking for any additional feedback to be provided into 14 categories. The main themes identified in the answers related
to Money, FGCU leadership, Supervisor, and Advancement; with Money being by far
the top theme observed.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
Faculty COACHE Survey: The data will be shared with FGCU faculty and academic leadership to support evidence-based decision making across the university. A team of faculty will be charged with evaluating findings, disseminating results, and prioritizing initiatives.
Staff survey: The committee made recommendations and tangible goals to help
address issues related to staff retention and morale. While the committee is
not in control of implementing such recommendations, we believe they are
reasonable and actionable, and as such, urge FGCU and SAC Leadership to consider them.
